BANESPA building-July 14

Yesterday, another senior missionary couple invited us to go downtown with them so that we could see the view from the tallest building in SP. It's only open during the week so we hemmed and hawed and weren't sure if we could miss a day of work...haha, just kidding. We jumped at the opportunity to go downtown, and so we embarked on our adventure. We used the bus system here, which is pretty efficient, but VERY busy. You can imagine trying to transport a percentage of a city that has 20 million people. There are lots of busses, and they are full! Anyway, more on that later! We got off after an interesting drive deeper into the city, and set off past huge buildings, theaters, and banks to the BANESPA building. It used to be a bank, and they built it to echo the Empire State Building in New York. We took an elevator to the 25th floor, and then got on another elevator to the 33rd floor, and climbed up stairs the last two floors. They allow you to be up there for 5 minutes, which was plenty of time to see this:

I thought it was pretty amazing. Getting off the bus was quite overwhelming for me. I have never big in a big city before (well, not one this size...Washington DC felt MUCH smaller!) There were so many people, and then to get to the top of the building and look out over the city was such a neat experience. We are so glad we got to see this view!
The picture below is of the chandelier on the first floor of the building. It was really large and beautiful!
