Driving to Boise

On our way out to Boise, we decided to make a few stops along the way--this is, after all, our grand tour of Idaho, and we want to see as much as possible!

Our first stop was to the City of Rock in south-central Idaho. There is a lot of Oregon Trail history out here, and we enjoyed learning some more and seeing what the pioneers would have seen as they crossed Idaho. My overall opinion: I would NEVER have wanted to be a pioneer crossing Idaho!

We also stopped to see Shoshone Falls. They were really beautiful and running fast!

Grand Teton National Park

The Tetons=Grand, Amazing, Awesome!

We were glad we were there to see some snow still left on the summit...I think it makes them better!

Colter Bay

Jenny's Lake. We were taking a walk and a ranger came up to us to ask if we'd seen another ranger and/or a bear. Apparently we missed a big brown bear guarding a carcass. I didn't mind so much, but Todd wanted to see it!

Yellowstone National Park

I LOVED all the hot pools. You don't see this hardly anywhere else in the US, let alone the WORLD! It was so fun to see the bright blue colors of the pools and the boiling water and clay. Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. I had no idea it even had one! And the rock is yellow...hence, Yellowstone?

Mammoth Hot Springs. The one behind me is the only one currently active. It's amazing how quickly the patterns change.

We experience all kinds of weather--wind, sun, rain, clouds, thunder. We were SOAKING during this picture!

Yellowstone was amazing. We saw so many different kinds of animals, and Old Faithful didn't disappoint. The park is so beautiful!

Still Alive

We are on our whirlwind tour of Idaho...so much fun, TONS of driving, time with Todd, and of course, LOTS of fun. Looks like the catchup with pictures is going to be painful :)

I have to write this story down though while I remember it. Todd and I were coming down from a hike in Coeur d'Alene and we passed this family with a young child. As we passed, this is the conversation the young mom was having with this 4 or 5 year old boy.

Boy: Did you see him Mom?
Mom: Yes, I saw him.
Boy: So don't you think he looks like Edward from Twilight?

I laughed, and was sorely tempted to look around for this Edward Look-alike, but we kept on truckin' :)

We have about a week or so left in Idaho. I will be really sad when vacation is over, but we will not miss feeling like we are living out of our car!
