You know those newscasts you always see on TV, but never in person? Jarom is a friend of Todd's who is managing the Eclipse office in Oklahoma City (like what Todd is doing). A sales rep in Jarom's office in Oklahoma City was knocking doors yesterday and literally saw a kid FLOATING DOWN THE STREET IN A RAFT. That's how much its rained there, and we have about the same weather. Luckily, our apartments are located at a higher elevation (even though we're right next to the Arkansas River) and so we haven't ever had to worry about flooding yet. We're just glad we aren't a little further south in Texas (which is where the picture is from, NOT here!) The weather forecasts are looking up, and so I hope the rain will finally begin to move away from the area!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

It has literally rained for weeks. Every day. Today is no exception. One picture is of Todd running to his car 20 ft. away. The other is of Todd not wanting to run to his car. See how excited he looks to get wet? The third is actually of our apartments (ours is the bottom one). It is raining in that picture as well. LOOOOVE ITTTTT.

Back in Tulsa...

So, it's been a while but here's the update I guess. My sister got married, and it was awesome. It was exciting for me because it was the first sealing I had been to that wasn't my own. It was fun to see my sister get married, but surreal as well, ya know?

It was ESPECIALLY wonderful having Todd back! It was such a runaround to get him. I was supposed to pick him up at Reagan at 10 pm, and I ended up getting there a bit early, just in case, because you never know what D.C. traffic is going to look like, even at 9 pm on a Thursday night. I waited in the cell phone waiting area, and when Todd called, I made a few loops around to figure out where to get out of the airport once I picked him up. He made it to the place where I was supposed to pick him up, but I just barely missed him. And then...I drove out of the airport. Without Todd. And there was no way to get BACK to Todd, at least not easily. So I called my Dad in a panic, almost crying, because I was now lost, driving over some bridge going somewhere AWAY from the airport, and there was an accident, so traffic was HORRIBLE, and I had no idea where to drive. Luckily, because Dad works in Alexandria, he was familiar with the area, and thankfully, got me back to the airport. Todd ended up waiting for 30 minutes, even though I'd gotten to the airport 40 minutes early. Grrr..., but now, it's funny.

So then, the search for the hotel began. I won't go into the details, but we got lost. And I cried. It is definitely scary driving around certain parts of downtown DC after midnight. I was driving, and Todd was attempting to navigate. He did a great job, but I was already emotional after getting lost the first time, and was now frustrated that we were lost a second time. We did eventually get there, and we were starving, so we made my first midnight trip to IHOP in a very long time.

My sister's wedding was gorgeous, the pictures are posted on facebook so you can see them there, but I put a few up for good measure. These are just the family pictures, the professional ones will come later. The reception was really fun, lots of friends and family and food. We got a lot of it on video camera, so one of my next projects is figuring out how to get them onto our computer at home. Todd and I thought it was so nice to be able to relax, because at ours we barely ate anything, we were so busy!

And now...we're back in Tulsa. Todd is doing his pest control thing, and I'm working in the office at night. I think this will be our last summer doing it. He is burnt out, and we are ready for a change. I like Tulsa though, it's got everything, but it still feels like a small town. However, they do need to pour some more money into the roads. This place has the worst potholes I have ever seen, and that's beating Idaho and Delaware! Todd and I are going to take some pictures of some of the potholes here for evidence sometime. We are convinced we will need new tires after the summer.

We are starting our apartment search for Boise. We've picked out our favorite, and we're starting to work on the paperwork now. I am so ready to go! I'm not really excited about starting school all over again, but I just have three semesters to go, and only one semester is straight classes. It'll be fun to be somewhere new, and I've really liked Boise when we've visited Todd's sister and brother-in-law there.

Anyway, there's the update!

Wedding bells...

So, this week we are gearing up for my sister's wedding. Mom is busy in the kitchen cooking, and when I'm not studying for the Praxis, I'm helping burn CD's, tie forks with pretty bows, and other things Martha Stewart-like. I was watching "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway" and I couldn't believe how much people spend on weddings...upwards of 50 or 60 thousand dollars. I can think of SOOO many things that that money would be useful for. I loved my wedding, and I'm glad we spent what we did, and kept it simple, inexpensive, but really nice. Most of the money those people in the show were spending is spent on small minute things that no one really notices. I mean, c'mon, those $20,000 flowers, while certainly beautiful, die in one day anyway.

Back to our home. Things should get interesting as the week progresses. I have been sick, which has put a damper on things, but I'm excited to go on Jake's field trip tomorrow to Assateague Island. I LOVE that island (and Chincoteague), I love the animals, the scenery, the ocean view. Ahhh, I miss it when we're out West, and there is nothing remotely close to a beach within 10 hours drive.

And I miss Todd. A lot. This separation is our longest, and it's good I've been busy here, and had the test to worry about, or else I would completely be out of my mind. I am so excited to pick him up on Thursday. Yay!

So, here's hoping for my cold to go away, everything to get done for the wedding, good times at the beach, and for our current crisis here (I'll leave it at that) to be resolved quickly!

I just read this article.

I'm glad that I don't actually know any people like this man. Seems a bit ridiculous to me, and I don't even really like politics. I almost feel sad that he publicly announced Hilary as his choice, as if that makes her look better (I am NOT a Hilary fan, by the way).
