Baking Failures and Triumphs

Of the things that I am good at, cooking isn't really one of them. I call it a work in progress--I'm not as bad as I used to be, but I could always be better. Here is are some pictures of my latest failures and successes:

These cookies were a result of overly softened butter :) Oh, and too many butterscotch chips. Todd said they tasted really good, but they were so ugly I couldn't bring myself to eat any :)

These were today's success. I used a recipe for the frosting off the internet, and stuck to it as close as I could...apparently sticking to the recipe is important or something. I also used a trick to keep frosting from going all over the frosting bag AND I tried a trick that gives you that swirly effect in the icing. I do have a sugar headache, but they came out pretty good. Finally a success!

Yum! The secret to all cookie recipes is to add another 1/2 to 3/4 cup of flour, and another teaspoon of vanilla, and to use dark brown sugar (instead of light), no matter what the recipe says. Cookies always come out fluffier :-) But those ones looked like the perfect kind to make ice cream sandwiches out of, YUM again!
